Ann Schaeffer DNP, PMHNP-BC, CNM

 Ann is a life-long Virginian who moved to the Shenandoah Valley with her husband and children in 2003. She is also (nearly) a life-long health care provider, having practiced in numerous settings as a Certified Nurse-Midwife for over 25 years, and catching over 1000 babies for families in central Virginia. As someone who deeply values holistic care and the mental/physical health connection, Ann is now also certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). She is pleased to offer expanded mental health care to families at Hygge, with the lens of decades of midwifery and gynecology experience. She also teaches the next generation of health care providers as an Associate Professor of Nursing at Eastern Mennonite University. In other areas of life Ann volunteers at the Blue Ridge Free Clinic providing gynecology care, and is an avid reader, gardener, cook, traveler, weight-lifter, and adult-child mom!
